The Journey

Pursuit of the First Light

Olivier Staub

Olivier Staub is an internationally awarded Canadian photographer and filmmaker. His photography is a deep personal exploration, rooted in a profound reverence for Mother Earth.

Guided by a unique sensitivity to storytelling, Staub explores the crossroads between nature, the human mind, and emotion, certain that all things relate within a vaster perspective.

Everything carries meaning; a story waiting to emerge when elements align.

Back to the Roots is his lifetime project: a constant quest for the essential and the original essence, leading to graphic interpretations of thought. These often take the form of abstract views or visual opinions, distilled expressions of stripped-down moments, accessible only to those who can enter a suspended state.

The legacy of his grandfather, a carpenter and photographer who lived through two world wars, sparked the genesis of Staub’s creative journey. Though it took time to name the quest, it eventually propelled him toward the pursuit of universal themes and inner truths. Nature becomes the encompassing container, the equilibrium that nurtures and gives birth to our souls.

Staub’s body of work revolves around empty spaces, wildlife, and landscapes free of human interference, capturing the most stripped and pure representations possible.
